Vetevendosje Party Secures Victory in Kosovo General Election

(MENAFN) Kosovo’s ruling Self-Determination Movement, known as Vetevendosje and led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, won a decisive victory in the country’s general election, garnering over half of the votes, according to reports.

The Central Election Commission released the final results of the early parliamentary elections held on December 28, 2025, showing that Vetevendosje received 51.1% of the total vote.

Other major parties trailed behind, with the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) earning 20.19%, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) 13.24%, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) 5.50%. The Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party (KDTP), representing the Turkish minority, captured 0.57% of votes and secured two parliamentary seats.

“Based on the official results, Vetevendosje won 57 of the 100 seats allocated through proportional representation in the 120-seat assembly. PDK secured 22 seats, LDK 15, AAK 6, and the Serbian List 9 seats,” the electoral authority stated.

With the election results confirmed, negotiations between parties are expected to begin to establish a coalition government. A minimum of 61 votes in the 120-seat assembly is needed to form a majority and establish Kosovo’s new government.
